About me
Noemi Mendez is a Data Dissemination Specialist at the Census Bureau’s Center for Enterprise Dissemination (CED). During her 21 years at the Census Bureau, she has held positions in the Geography, Field, and Communications Divisions. Currently she is responsible for developing training programs for internal and external census data users.
Noemi studied Geography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at Syracuse University and City University of New York Hunter College. She continues to spread her love of geography as an Adjunct at Johns Hopkins University’s Advanced Academic Programs, where she teaches census data, data visualization and geographic information systems.
Outside of work, she enjoys birding, hiking with her rescue beagle Lindy, and board gaming. Noemi is a member of the Society of Women Geographers and also volunteers with The Free Brooks Project which seeks to increase literacy and access to books in Camden, New Jersey.
